Abstract

The rapid proliferation of Information Technology (IT) has heightened concerns about its environmental impact, from energy consumption to electronic waste. Sustainable IT practices and green computing aim to address these challenges by reducing carbon footprints, optimizing energy usage, and promoting environmentally conscious decision-making. This paper explores core practices such as virtualization, green data centers, e-waste recycling, and energy-efficient hardware, linking them to broader environmental and conservation goals. Drawing on prior literature, especially, we examine how these technologies contribute to sustainability frameworks and propose future research directions for IT's role in ecological balance.
